So this Tasty Tuesday is all about salad dressings! So Last week I joined Weight Watchers to try and shift the weight and have a better quality of life and so far its going good! So my problem with salad is I hate it lol no really I hate it unless its covered in dressing so it no longer tastes like salad. So I had to search the Internet for some Low Cal Salad Dressings so that I could have the salad and not eat a million calories in dressings :) So I found a few on cooks.com that I found delicious so without further ado here we go...
| CREAMY LOW CALORIE SALAD DRESSING | |
| May also be used on baked potato. 2 c. cottage cheese (1 lb.) carton 1 c. buttermilk 1 tbsp. lemon juice 2 tbsp. chopped parsley 1/2 tsp. salt or 3/4 tsp. season salt (add other flavors if desired, onion, garlic, celery, etc.) Sieve cottage cheese or mix in blender until smooth and creamy. Stir in buttermilk, lemon juice, parsley and salt. Chill. Makes 3 cups. Calories: 1 tablespoon = 17 calories. Fat controlled diet: Negligible fat. Diabetic and Calorie Controlled diet: 2 tablespoons = free choice. Sodium controlled diet: prepared as directed, omitting salt, 1 tablespoon = 42 milligrams sodium. | |
| FRENCH - STYLE LOW - CALORIE SALAD DRESSING | |
| 1 c. tomato juice 2 tbsp. lemon juice 1/2 tsp. oregano Pinch of garlic powder Pinch of pepper Put all ingredients in a jar and shake well. Store in covered jar in refrigerator. Makes about 1 cup, with 7 calories per 2 tablespoons. | |
| LOW-CALORIE CREAMY CUCUMBER SALAD DRESSING | |
| 1 med. cucumber, pared and sliced 1 c. low-calorie mayonnaise 2 tbsp. chopped fresh onion (or 2 tsp. dried) Combine ingredients in blender until smooth. Pour into a jar; cover and store in the refrigerator. Makes 2 cups. About 20 calories per tablespoon. | |
| LOW CALORIE LEMON PAPRIKA SALAD DRESSING | |
| 1 tsp. dry mustard The juice of 4 lemons 1 tsp. paprika 2 tsp. minced parsley 1 tsp. chopped chives 1/2 tsp. oregano 1 tsp. salt Shake of Tabasco sauce Dissolve mustard in a little lemon juice by rubbing with back of spoon, then shake all ingredients in covered jar. Refrigerate and use on any salad or cold vegetables. | |
